Let’s start from scratch

Really the scratch post is for us humans to save our furniture!

So why do cats scratch? In the wild their Ancestors spend a lot of time climbing and stretching on trees. Unless you are the Swiss family Robinson chances are you don’t live in a tree meaning your cats closest thing to their ancestors way of life is that nice comfy curvilinear sofa or that redwood dining table and chairs 😉. scratching is a form of instinct and exercise. It helps keep those claws sharp and trim and builds their muscles. But I bet a lot of folks are unaware that it is also a way in which the felines mark their territory. On those cute little pads lie glands which release a scent specific to your cat. So do your bundle of fur a big favor and get them a scratching post - I’m sure they’re itching to try it out!
